HER SONG

I walked along a river bank…
…a maiden there met me.
I looked upon her face…
…but her face I could not see.
I closed my eyes in disbelief; the maiden no more was she…
I came to understand…She who was…is me…

I walked on to a woodland front…
…a child there met me.
I looked upon his mother’s face…
But her face I could not see.
I closed my eyes in disbelief; the mother no more was she…
I came to understand…She who was…is me…

I climbed up to a hilltop…
…an old woman there met me.
I looked upon her face…
…but her face I could not see.
I closed my eyes in disbelief; the old woman no more was she…
I came to understand…She who was…is me…

I ran down to a meadow fair…
…A Goddess there met me.
I looked upon her face…
…but her face I could not see.
I closed my eyes in disbelief but the Goddess still stood she…
I came to understand…I who was…
…is she.
